AIMS - Australian International Motor Show 2011

The Australian International Motor Show (AIMS)
will be held in Melbourne from July 1-10, 2011. It is the first time the Show will come to Melbourne under its new name and the first time it will be held mid-year.
Australian International Motor Show 2011
The motor industry has chosen the date to give Australia’s motor show clear separation from exhibitions in the Northern Hemisphere. Major international motor shows return to Melbourne in 2011 with the Australian International Motor Show being held in the Victorian capital for the first time.
The new event is the result of the organisers of the motor shows in Melbourne, the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC), and Sydney, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), joining forces to create one annual show which alternate between the two locations each year.

This year’s event takes place from 1 to 10 July at the Melbourne Convention and AIMS will occur during Victoria’s second-semester school holidays – providing substantial potential for family attendance.

This is the fact why you should attend the Australian International Motor Show 2011
Motor Shows attract the largest audiences for indoor exhibitions in Australia, males accounted for over 70% of all Motor Show patrons, over 36% of visitors to the Motor Show are aged under 30 years with 22% aged over 60 years, over 60% of patrons surveyed intend to visit the next Motor Show, the proportion of patrons attending the Motor Show for the purpose of gathering information prior to making a vehicle purchase decision is approximately 36%.

Females attending the Motor Show are more likely to attend the show for the purpose of gathering information prior to making a vehicle purchase decision, over 300 semi trailer loads of equipment is required to build exhibitor stands for the Motor Show, over 450 people work on site during the Move-In to get the Motor Show built. These include riggers, electricians, tilers, carpenters, sound and lighting engineers and plumbers.

Around 150 mobile phones are found in and around the Motor Show during public days, almost 8km of staging truss for lighting grids and 65km of electrical cable is used in the construction of exhibitor stands and set up of audio visual equipment, over 23,000sqm of floating floor and carpet used in the exhibition. And Approximately 400 motor vehicles will be displayed when the Show is completed!

The Melbourne Motor Show has been held since 1926. The change of name reflects a resolve by the industry to showcase itself nationally once each year, alternating between Melbourne and Sydney. “Melbourne has traditionally had a motor show in the first quarter of each year,” AIMS
director Russ Tyrie said.

AIMS will be the largest single show to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, already the largest undercover exhibition space in Australia.
The show also promises to be the biggest in Melbourne for many years, with exhibitors committing to a larger presence and promising to reveal a host of new models and concept cars.

The 2011 event is being used to revamp the Australian International Motor Show’s online and media presence. Tickets will go on sale through the website on Thursday, 24 March. or you can buy tickets onlineEarly Bird online tickets will go on sale from Thursday, 24 March 2011 until 11:59:59 on Friday, 17 June 2011. Ticket sales conclude 30 minutes prior to closing time.
